Motodane is a family-run sushi workshop located in a small alley near the famous Tsukiji Market in Tokyo, Japan. It is highly popular among the locals, as evidenced by the long queues forming 20 minutes before the doors even open. The seating inside is limited, and the establishment is managed by a family who runs the place with great organization and tranquility, allowing guests to peacefully enjoy their sushi. Due to its inconspicuous storefront, most of the customers are middle-aged individuals over 50. Couples often choose to order some sake and engage in conversations while savoring their sushi, creating a pleasant atmosphere. The prices of the food are also very reasonable and affordable. In summary, if you're looking to experience authentic Japanese family-style sushi in a workshop setting, Motodane is definitely a worthwhile choice to visit.

Located just a block away from Tsukiji market, this store is hidden in the alleys and most customers are locals and regulars. Got the lunch set (dinner requires reservations) and they have an English menu. The quality of all cuts, especially the sweet shrimp, tuna and scallop were top-notch - simply buttery creamy goodness at a reasonable price. Store is run by a family that works in tranquil symphony and service is fast.

Sushi is very fresh and high quality. Price is reasonable and much cheaper compare to main market. Highly recommended to come here at least 1 time.

One of the best sushi’s of my life. Really cozy place, it looks like a family house. You sit in a big table with other people and there is a bar too. The price is cheap for the quality. A lunch for 2 people is around 2000 yen. Food is amazing they are also really fast. You may need to wait a bit to get sorted but it worth the wait

Queued like a tourist, but sat at the counter and dined like a local. Hands down the best meal I had in Tokyo. You can't argue with the quality, freshness and the value of the meal served.

A hole-in-the-wall sushi place serving fresh sashimi and sushi at a very very reasonable price. Ordered sashimi set which is ¥2,000 (tax incl) and it was delicious. I think with this quality, other places you need to pay 3,000yen. Ordered batters or marinated mackerel oshi-zushi (pressed sushi) but this was average ¥300 for 2 pcs.

Love it! Very “rustic” and authentic sushi restaurant. From outside is not attractive at all but after food taste perception change. We didn’t reserve but waited in line outside. Not long waiting to seat. Restricted menu at some dishes. All food tasted were delicious and made me happy. High Ratio quality-price. Suggested!

I discovered this little sushi-in in a Tokyo Guide. If you wanna escape from the chaotic outter market and try an authentic family-owned please go! The lunch menu is so convenient and the sashimi outstanding. Atmosphere mostly local and available a menu with pictures that helps! I paid y2100 for the richest combo plate
